Document Highlights

  • This report analyzes and provides a forecast for the tourism industry in Canada, and in each of the 10 provinces and Yukon, for the period from 2012 to 2016.
  • It looks separately at domestic, U.S., and overseas travellers for each jurisdiction, and also provides separate statistics for business and leisure travellers.
  • Overall, global economic concerns are expected to weaken tourism over the near term. However, Western Canadians and visitors from several emerging economies are expected to bolster tourism numbers in some regions.
  • The authors are cautiously optimistic about prospects for most regions in the medium and long terms.
