Executive Director, Global, Industrial and Education Economics

Michael Burt leads the teams that conduct research on industrial performance, trade and investment, and education and skills at The Conference Board of Canada. Mr. Burt joined the CBoC in 2004, he has moved progressively into more senior positions since joining the Board. Before joining the Board he worked with an economic consulting firm in the United States.

In his role, Mr. Burt oversees the maintenance and production of a variety of products, as well as the consulting work that the group completes. Mr. Burt is a spokesperson for the Conference Board and does presentations on a variety of topics to clients and the public, and is often cited in the media.

Mr. Burt has 20 years of experience conducting economic analysis. Mr. Burt has a Master's degree in economics from the University of Toronto, and has also completed the Chartered Financial Analyst program.

Julie Adès
 
Julie Adès
Senior Economist, Global Commerce Centre

Julie Adès is a Senior Economist and contributes to research on global trade and investment as part of the Conference Board of Canada's Global Commerce Centre.

Prior to joining the Global Commerce Centre, Julie spent several years within the Conference Board's national forecasting team working on the medium and long-term outlooks of the Canadian economy, focussing on the labour market, housing market, household spending, income and demographic variables. Since joining the Conference Board in 2008, she has helped to develop and maintain the Board's national economic forecasting model, conducted economic impact and tax benchmarking analyses, and worked on various custom research projects. As part of an international aid program, Julie also delivered a course on economic modelling with a focus on exports for government employees in Indonesia.

Before joining the Conference Board, Julie was an intern-economist at the Sustainable Development Department of Gaz Metro, where she focused on the study of economic tools to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Julie Adès holds a M.A. in economics from Laval University where she specialized in natural resources and environmental economics and a B.A. with great distinction in economics, management and international relations from McGill University.

Jo-Leen Folz
Administrative and Meetings Coordinator, Economics

Jo-Leen is the Administrative and Meetings Coordinator for the Global Commerce Centre as well as the National Immigration Centre. Jo-Leen coordinates the Centre's yearly meetings, acts as a member liaison and provides administrative support for all Centre activities and research. In addition to her roles within the two Centre's, Jo-Leen also provides administrative support to the Canadian Tourism Research Institute, Economics Department and is the back-up to Executive Assistant to the Vice-President & Chief Economist.

Jo-Leen is a college graduate with over 15 years of work experience in office administration and project coordination.
