National Security and Public Safety

National Security and Public Safety is a knowledge area within the Public Policy division of the Conference Board of Canada.

As our environment becomes more globalized and interconnected, individuals, organizations, and nation states are becoming more vulnerable. Dynamic risks and challenges place unprecedented demands on organizational decision-making and public policies affecting Canada, its businesses, and its citizens.

The Conference Board’s security–related networks are ideally suited to help you tackle these challenges and help you address them within the context of your organization.

Executive Networks allow you to engage with peers and stakeholders and to participate in facilitated closed-door discussions. It is here that you will network and exchange ideas with the country’s most senior security, and resilience executives. You will also benefit from the Conference Board’s unparalleled access to a broad range of expert speakers.

The Conference Board of Canada offers a wide range of Research services with access to in-depth studies and independent reports on hot-topics. It also offers custom research/services from small, short-term research projects to large-scale research investigations.

Cyber Threats Need Coordination: How Cyber Security Can Only Be Addressed Comprehensively

When even the White House can be hacked, it isn’t a big stretch for corporate leaders and directors to start to question how secure your company’s IT infrastructure and data are. This threat is an opportunity for corporate security executives to demonstrate their worth to the corporation and to actively engage other senior executives to ensure that everyone is onside with the cyber threat management plan.

This webinar is given by Tony Power, Senior Director of Corporate Security at Emera Inc. Tony is chair of Emera's Business Continuity Steering Committee and a member of Emera’s IT Strategy Committee and Intranet Council. Externally, Tony is active on the Conference Board of Canada’s Advisor Committee for the Council of Security Executives. Prior to joining Emera, Tony spent 13 years at Bell Aliant in various roles including Company Security Officer and Chief Privacy Officer.
