Georgia Sapounas is the Senior Manager, Digital at the Canadian Olympic Committee. Georgia had the privilege of traveling and competing on Canada’s National Synchronized Skating Team for eight years prior to starting her professional career in digital media. Her greatest accomplishment was becoming a four-time consecutive national champion and skating to a World bronze medal in Prague, 2006. As an athlete, it was only natural for Georgia to move forward in her post-athletic career and work in sport.
As the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Senior Manager, Digital, Georgia is responsible for the fan experience across all digital and social properties. She leads content programs, digital innovation projects and works with external partners on digital and social initiatives. Her and her team saw exponential growth within all Canadian Olympic Team channels and reached all Sochi 2014 digital targets, most by 3-fold. She also managed the re-launch of the responsive site (Olympic.ca) that was the go-to place for all Canadian Olympic Team updates during the Sochi 2014 Games. Prior to this role, Georgia worked in digital and social media at BMO Financial Group, OREA and lululemon athletica. She has a degree in Communication, Culture and Information Technology from the University of Toronto and a Diploma in Digital Communication from Sheridan College.
