Canadian Outlook with the Chief Economist: Trade Wars Cloud Canada’s Outlook

The Canadian economy will post a subpar performance in 2019 despite solid job growth. The outlook for 2020 is somewhat brighter as a pickup in private investment spending and exports should help boost growth. Still, several risks cloud the outlook. Brexit and an escalating trade war between the United States and China are two important factors that will affect the path of global growth.
