This quarterly survey poses ten qualitative questions regarding the business climate and investment intentions to senior officers of approximately 1,500 Canadian business organizations.
Document Highlights
- In The Conference Board of Canada’s latest survey of business leaders, business confidence has partially rebounded from its lowest level on record last April. Prior to the pandemic, business sentiment had already been languishing at its lowest level since the financial crisis of 2008–09.
- The Index of Business Confidence is a reliable leading indicator of investment spending. When businesses have been pessimistic in the past, there was less spending on machinery and equipment, which has a lasting impact on the country’s potential economic growth.
