As an integral part of the Conference Board of Canada’s service offerings, the Indigenous and Northern Communities team provide independent research and analysis on emerging trends and policy issues pertaining to Canada’s North, and to Indigenous communities across the country.
The work, which is funded separately from membership fees, varies depending on the complexity of the issues as well as the scope of the client’s request. Results can be for exclusive use, or disseminated to a wider audience, according to the needs of the clients and funders.
Research and analysis most recently commissioned from the Indigenous and Northern Communities team includes:
- Mapping the infrastructure in and around Northern Aboriginal Communities;
- Northern connectivity—ensuring quality communications for the future;
- Delivering on Canada’s Arctic Council Chairmanship 2013–2015: Establishing an Arctic Economic Council; and
- Supporting the development of an Economic Opportunities Strategy in the Northwest Territories.
