Survey of Forecasters: Spring 2019
The Conference Board of Canada
April 24, 2019
This quarterly survey reflects the opinions of Canada's top forecasting organizations and their outlook for the Canadian economy.
- The Canadian economy will expand by 1.4 per cent this year, less than the gain of 1.8 per cent that had been anticipated in the winter.
- The main factor behind the weaker outlook is a more pessimistic view on future increases in investment spending.
- Increases in consumer prices will be more subdued in 2019, and this factor, among others, has led the Bank of Canada to run a more accommodative monetary policy.
