Christopher has over 25 years’ experience working on Northern and Aboriginal issues including working for several years for both the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Federal Government in Yellowknife, NWT. He comes to us from Parks Canada where he was a Special Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer on the development of community-based cultural tourism businesses in communities adjacent to National Parks and National Historic Sites in the Arctic. Prior to working at Parks Canada, he spent 15 years at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, most recently as Director General of Aboriginal and External Relations. In this capacity he managed the funding relationship with the national Aboriginal organizations, and was responsible for the development of policy options to address Métis and non-status Indian issues as well as for intergovernmental and international relations on Indigenous issues. He holds an honours undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and Biology from the University of Waterloo and a Masters degree in organizational development from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto.
