Marc Desormeaux is an economist with the Conference Board's National Forecast Division. He is responsible for the labour market and consumer spending portions of the national forecast. He also prepares the Board's monthly Index of Consumer Confidence and Composite Leading Economic Index for Canada.
Apart from the forecast, Marc also contributes to the Board's custom research projects. Projects he has worked on in the past year include an economic impact assessment of the proposed Ontario Retirement Pension Plan (ORPP), an analysis of the costs of implementing three large-scale health policy changes at the federal level, and a long-term forecast of the labour market needs of Canada's consumer products manufacturing industry.
Prior to joining the Conference Board, Marc worked as an economic consultant in the media and telecommunications industries, where he completed a number of economic impact assessments and tax credit analyses for clients in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Marc holds an M.A. in economics from the University of Toronto.
