Senior Research Associate, Health Innovation, Policy and Evaluation Research
Overview
The Health Innovation, Policy and Evaluation research team at The Conference Board of Canada is seeking a Senior Research Associate who will take a lead role in support of key initiatives including a multi-year project to conduct an evaluation of Ontario’s Family Health Team Initiative. To be considered for this role, you must have a solid understanding of Canada’s health care system, solid research experience, and expertise in performance monitoring and evaluation. Experience conducting bivariable and multivariable hierarchical regression analyses is required. This position reports to the Director, is a full-time permanent position, is available immediately and is located in Ottawa, Ontario. Characteristics The successful candidate will bring experience and strong quantitative research skills, advanced oral and written communication and an excellent analytic coherence. The ability to think strategically and respond quickly to multiple challenges is crucial. As a Senior Research Associate you will be expected to identify research issues, oversee and conduct research, contribute your expertise and knowledge (especially as it relates to evaluation) and produce high-quality work. Excellent oral and advanced written communication skills in addition to a strong customer service orientation and an inquisitive mind are essential.
Principal Duties
- Take a lead role in and make significant contributions to major research initiatives and projects.
- Analyze and quickly translate complex research results for various stakeholder groups; write high quality reports, briefing papers, and project summaries.
- Provide advanced technical expertise in the analysis of data.
- Work closely with other members of the team to ensure deliverables are on-time, within budget and meet stakeholder and client expectations.
- Develop and conduct surveys (mail, fax, telephone, on-line), conduct literature searches, collect data and analyze/interpret results.
- Communicate effectively with team members, project partners and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver excellence in product and customer service.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum a masters’ degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, health administration, or related discipline.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Health Care delivery in Canada.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in a professional research environment.
- Working knowledge of SAS is desirable.
- Experience using SPSS is required. Exposure to ATLAS.TI a definite asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies including: literature reviews, interviews, case studies, surveys, and advanced quantitative data analysis.
- Experience conducting bivariable and multivariable hierarchical regression analyses is required.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to write clearly, concisely and quickly; published work would be an asset.
- Ability to communicate research findings in different formats (formal reports, briefings, presentations, etc).
- Proficiency in the use of computers in an MS Office environment.
- Bilingualism would be an asset.
