Document Highlights

Canadian business leaders expressed growing optimism regarding overall economic conditions in Canada. The broad Index of Business Confidence rose three points to 97.8 in the final quarter of 2016. The increase follows a three-point drop the previous quarter.

When considering their firms’ own financial conditions, 87.1 per cent of Canadian business leaders said they expect stable or enhanced profitability over the next six months, up 2.1 points from the fall survey. And 78.2 per cent said they expect return on investment to be as good or better than it was six months ago—up nearly 15 points from the last survey.
