The composite leading index of the Canadian economy sums up the performance of 10 components that track the short-term course of the economy.

The Conference Board of Canada’s composite leading index increased 0.4 per cent in April, rebounding from March’s slowdown, when growth fell to 0.2 per cent. Five of the ten components rose, with most of the gains coming from stronger export demand for Canada’s commodities.
