This report offers a detailed five-year forecast of Canada’s Wood Products Industry.

Report by Jacqueline Johnson
The Conference Board of Canada, 11 pages, December 2009

Document Highlights:
  • U.S. Housing Starts—After experiencing their worst year since record keeping began, housing starts will continue their recovery in 2010. Gains will continue steadily for several years.
  • Canadian Housing Market—An abrupt adjustment earlier in 2009 hurt the industry, but the housing market is already showing signs of a sustained recovery.
  • Harmonized Sales Tax—Adoption of the HST in Ontario and B.C. will result in much-needed investment in new technologies and machinery.
