And while pundits and politicians will pontificate endlessly about how this happened, the election demonstrated the power of social media, particularly Twitter, to determine the direction of debate, challenge traditional media, and motivate people to take action.
The pace of change isn’t slowing—what’s happening now and what comes next?
For a while all the talk was about Meerkat and Periscope. Now Facebook Live, Snap Chat and WhatsApp seem to dominate the conversation. By the time you read this, another social platform might be the belle of the ball.
Meanwhile some experts hail the end of the written word, pronouncing it dead at the hands of the imageOthers champion video. Yet less than 140 characters of text can cause an organization’s stock price to plummet. Perhaps the written word has life in it yet.
