Public Sector Social Media 2017

Monday October 30 - Tuesday October 31 2017 Shaw Centre Ottawa, Ontario

Conference Overview

Where Canada’s social media leaders gather to discuss the most effective strategies for the most powerful media

2016 demonstrated the power of social media.  It was the year that saw the social media enabled insurgent campaign for Donald Trump triumph over the establishment in the US presidential election—despite Hilary having the support of the overwhelming majority of traditional media. 2016 also highlighted the impact of fake news. These false stories are shared widely and strategically, infiltrating social media feeds with misleading facts.

Recognizing the need to cut through the clutter of false information and disjointed messages, this event will showcase practical examples of successful social media campaigns and discuss the context to ensure your messages stand out amongst the rest.

The pace of change isn’t slowing—what’s happening now and what comes next?

For a while, the hype surrounded Meerkat and Periscope. Now Facebook Live, Snapchat and WhatsApp are the dominant channels. By the time you read this, another social platform will be on the leading edge, with the next one close behind.

This event will feature discussions of new platforms and their potential impact.  Hear from the leaders at Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn as they share best practices to help you reach your audience. You will hear about the unique benefits of each platform and how each is changing to become more effective. This will help you select the best channel among all the never-ending list of options and make the best use of your resources once deployed.

An information packed agenda that meets your current needs and prepares you for the future of social in the public sector

Join us to discuss the key developments in the field, including:
