2016 Event

Over 200 leading representatives from government, business, education, not-for-profit, and immigrant serving organizations from across Canada convened to discuss what the future of our immigration system looks like. Discussions included how to optimize immigrants' valuable contributions to Canada's economic competitiveness, and social and cultural vitality; the role and meaning of citizenship in immigration context; and how cross-sectoral stakeholders can help ensure the success of resettled refugees in Canada.

The Summit primarily focused on the following themes: Supporting people, creating partnerships, enhancing prosperity, and developing a National Immigration Action Plan for Canada. Delegates were invited to share their vision and discuss how we can build a better immigration system. Sessions assessed current performance and explored opportunities for change, in an effort to help shape the National Immigration Action Plan.
