The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore will highlight the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's The Way Forward: A vision for sustainability and growth in Newfoundland and Labrador. This vision guides government actions to achieve greater efficiency, strengthen the province's economic foundation, enhance services, and improve outcomes to promote a healthy and prosperous province.

Economic Outlook: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, U.S., and Beyond

Craig Alexander, Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist, will provide the global and national economic outlook and will discuss the global macro-economic trends in the context of global economic growth, commodity markets, changes in trade patterns, and Canada's national performance.

Pedro Antunes, Executive Director, Economic Outlook and Analysis and Deputy Chief Economist, will provide highlights from the Conference Board's most recent provincial and metropolitan outlooks and discuss the macro-economic trends buffeting the Provincial economy as well as the forecast for the metropolitan area of St. John's.

Panel Discussion: Overcoming Headwinds

Newfoundland and Labrador is facing headwinds to its economic growth and prosperity. During this panel, a distinguished group of business and academic leaders will outline the challenges and propose remedies.

Wade Locke will focus on non-renewable natural resources and their implication for NL's fiscal and economic outlook. Richard Alexander will discuss the fiscal and budget situation for the province from the perspective of employers. Dorothy Keating will describe the Secret Sauce of Newfoundland and Labrador business resiliency, optimism, and will share a blueprint for economic growth.
