Conference Overview
Even in good times, one of the greatest challenges for senior leaders is finding an opportunity to discuss their top issues with other leaders. Now more than ever, the importance of making time for strategic thinking with a diverse group who can offer new ideas and perspectives should not be overlooked. The Conference Board’s Canadian Conference provides this opportunity.
Our 86th Canadian Conference will be held at Fairmont Le Château Montebello in Montebello, Quebec on Thursday, January 14 through Saturday, January 16, 2010.
This “invitation only” event was developed exclusively for Presidents, CEOs, Ministers, and Deputy Ministers. We only hold it once each year, and it’s limited to approximately 30 participants.
“This was the single, most intellectually exhilarating event I have attended this year—a true highlight.”
The format of this event is unlike any other and is designed to encourage the free exchange of ideas. Each participant is asked to make an eight-minute presentation, sharing their perspective on a topic that’s important to them, their organization or the country. Discussion of the topic is then opened to the floor for questions, comments and other viewpoints.
Previous topics have included the current economic crisis, trade protectionism, infrastructure and development of the North, improving relationships between the public and private sectors, globalization, the Obama effect, the on-going pension funding crisis, and leadership in tough times.
“I didn’t know what to expect as this was my first (Canadian Conference) – I was blown away by the calibre of participants and discussions.”
Every detail of the venue, meals, and activities is carefully selected to provide an ideal environment that contributes to the overall experience. The conference format and agenda also allow time to connect with other participants and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Spouses and partners are also invited to participate in a parallel program that involves a similar exchange of ideas and perspectives.
“Wisdom of crowds in action. Tough to get away – glad I did”
As Canada’s most respected independent research and conference organization, the Conference Board is uniquely positioned to attract the senior participants that make this an insightful and exciting learning experience. You can count on The Conference Board of Canada to run an event that will exceed your expectations.
During this event, Glen Hodgson, Senior Vice-President, Forecasting and Analysis and Chief Economist, The Conference Board of Canada, will present the latest economic forecast.
