 | | Glen Hodgson Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist | Glen Hodgson brings 29 years of experience and a specialization in international economic and financial issues to the position of Senior Vice-President and Chief Economist of The Conference Board of Canada. Mr. Hodgson is responsible for overseeing the Board's macroeconomic outlook products, tourism, custom research, and conference programs. He is the Board’s chief spokesperson on economic issues, has written extensively on Canadian and international economic and financial issues, and is bilingual. He plays a central role in enhancing the Board's public policy analysis. He is the editor and a contributing author of the book Crisis and Intervention: Lessons from the Financial Meltdown and Recession, published in November 2010. Glen is launching the Board’s latest research initiative, the Canadian Alliance for Sustainable Health Care. He took the lead in creating the Board’s International Trade and Investment Centre and has published over 140 articles and briefings. He is co-authoring a new series of briefings on the economics of pro sports in Canada. Mr. Hodgson joined the Board in September 2004, after 10 years at Export Development Canada (EDC), where he held several senior positions, including Vice-President of Policy and Deputy Chief Economist. He also spent 10 years with the federal Department of Finance. From 1984 to 1988, Mr. Hodgson served as Advisor/Assistant to the Executive Director for Canada, Ireland, and the Caribbean at the International Monetary Fund. Mr. Hodgson has an MA in Economics from McGill University and pursued PhD studies at McGill. He resides in Ottawa with his wife and the younger of his two sons, and spends his leisure time coaching youth soccer and cycling.  | | Louis Thériault Director
Health Economics | Louis joined the The Conference Board of Canada in 1997, where he specializes in product development, and in macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis. Since joining the Conference Board, Louis has launched several new initiatives. He was first responsible for the model design, empirical analysis, and marketing of the Metropolitan Outlook Service, including a quarterly economic forecast for large Canadian urban centres. In 2003, he launched the Canadian Industrial Outlook Service, analyzing economic and financial trends in large industries. More recently, he was Director of the International Trade and Investment Centre, which offers Canadian business leaders and policy-makers forward-looking analysis related to the implications of the ongoing restructuring of global production. Louis is currently Director, Health Economics, for the Canadian Alliance for Sustainable Health Care. Louis is also a primary contact for contracts with external clients. He is an expert in health economics modelling and forecasting, and has been involved in numerous partnership projects that require database and model simulation expertise. In addition, he is a speaker and a media spokesperson on topics related to health economics, international trade and investment, and the Canadian economy.  | | Thy Dinh Senior Research Associate, Health Economics | Thy is currently a Senior Research Associate, Health Economics, for the Canadian Alliance for Sustainable Health Care. This initiative was created to respond to the reality that Canada’s current public health care system is fiscally unsustainable. It provides Canadian business leaders and policy-makers with insightful, forward-looking, quantitative analysis of the sustainability of the Canadian health care system and all of its facets. Before joining the Conference Board, Thy worked on a number of key public health issues. For instance, she was the lead researcher on a health economic analysis of mammography screening programs in Canada, and a senior research associate with the CT Lamont Centre at the Elizabeth Bruyère Research Institute, analyzing the health economic impacts of various primary health care interventions. She also worked at the Public Health Agency of Canada in a number of capacities and as a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa. Thy’s primary role is now to engage in health economic research and knowledge translation. She is an expert in population health, epidemiology, and health economics.
