CASHC publishes evidence-based, accessible, and timely reports on key health and health care systems issues. Research is arranged under 11 foundational and cross-cutting themes.

Reports (once published) will be available to download free of charge to those who have registered on the Conference Board’s e-Library. (There is no cost for registration.)

Who's Doing What in the Canadian Health System: A Selected List of Research Organizations
The goal of this first CASHC publication is to help anyone doing research into Canadian health care to discover who else is doing what, thereby avoiding duplications and increasing the opportunity for cooperation and coordination.

Sustainability—What Does This Mean for Canada’s Health and Health Care Systems?
Purpose: To identify the critical elements of health and health care sustainability in Canada and to provide a common definition of sustainability to guide the policy work and recommendations that will flow from CASHC's work.

The Canadian Health Care Debate: A Survey and Assessment of Key Studies
Purpose: To support CASHC’s efforts by summarizing the main recommendations for health care transformation to date, assessing the uptake of these recommendations, and identifying current gaps and opportunities.

The Economic Footprint of Canada’s Health Care Sector
Purpose: To provide an economy-wide estimate of all the industries involved in providing health care products and services, and to highlight the strategic economic importance of the Canadian health care sector.

Ontario's Economic and Fiscal Prospects: Challenging Times Ahead
This report looks at Ontario’s fiscal challenges—in particular, the challenges to maintaining a public health care system at a time of deficits and growing demand.

Organization Design, Alignment, and Performance

Interprofessional Primary Care Team—A Framework for Best Practice
Purpose: Based on a review of the existing evidence around the role and impact of multidisciplinary primary care teams, this project is aimed at developing a framework for best practice and a measurement of their health and economic impact for selected chronic conditions.

Benchmark Health Care System Performance
Purpose: To produce an updated, objective, data-based scorecard on the performance of Canada’s provincial health care systems. This scorecard will include relevant international comparators to identify leading practices elsewhere.

Prevention

Population Health: Trends and Implications for the Canadian Economy
Purpose: To define the current state of population health (today versus 1990 or 1980), a task that will include identifying key chronic diseases, their causal and risk factors, and the economic burdens these diseases pose. It will also discuss areas for deeper research on population health.

Making the Business Case for Investments in Workplace Health and Wellness
Purpose: To provide employers from small, medium-sized, and large organizations with advice and guidance on how to calculate the return on investment in workplace health and wellness programs.
