A panel of regional business leaders will discuss the economic challenges and the opportunities for the Waterloo Region in this interactive session with moderator Craig Alexander and the audience.

Tony Lamantia will touch on the key policy issues that will affect investment and growth in the Region. Mary Ann Wenzler-Wiebe will discuss the opportunities available in the auto sector for local firms and Ted McKechnie will describe how food and technology are a perfect fit for growth in the Waterloo Region.

Keynote Presentation—Autonomous Vehicles: Opportunities and Challenges in the Waterloo Region

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) will change our lives and society in the 21st Century as much as the arrival of cars did during the 20th Century. Barrie Kirk, the Executive Director of the Canadian Automated Vehicles Centre of Excellence, will a) provide an overview of the status, deployment and trends of AVs; b) describe the socio-economic impacts on our lives, cities, the economy and the world, and c) address the business opportunities and challenges in the Waterloo region.
