Public Sector Transformation 2017: Deliverology, Data, Digitization

Tuesday November 28 - Wednesday November 29 2017 Shaw Centre Ottawa, Ontario

Conference Overview

Spend two days learning with Canada’s top public sector change agents

Year after year this conference delivers the essentials on change to a highly engaged audience of national change leaders from the public sector. It puts a spotlight on the latest approaches to change that can be applied in current public sector initiatives. We find the top practitioners who are doing the best work to create a practical form for the exchange of ideas, exploration of best practices, and an introduction to new approaches. This combination ensures you will leave with a better idea of how to implement change in your organization.

Always focused on the practice of change in the real world—your messy, unpredictable, constantly changing world

We understand the value of change models. For many, technology is a significant driver of change but you can’t overlook the impact of culture either. There is no “one size fits all” approach to change. And, on top of everything, there is also the challenge of meeting competing demands from stakeholders.

This event is built on a foundation of examples from the Canadian public sector. These examples are varied – from all different levels of government. Some involve innovation, others are more process improvement focused. Some are built around technology while others prioritize culture. Some highlight new models and approaches, others look at the basic skills you will need when leading or catalyzing change.

Three themes for 2017: Deliverology, Data, and Digitization

For 2017 we have identified three themes that speak directly to the change challenges public sector organizations are facing. These themes won’t be the only topics we discuss. As conversations happen and challenges are brought forward for discussion, our agenda will grow to incorporate the key components of change and transformation.

Implementing change to fulfill government’s goals

Currently a very hot topic across the public sector and a major focus of our 2016 conference. But while the concept was new to many a year ago, we will move on to look at how organizations are turning the concept into reality.

You will learn how to make it work in practice and include discussion of lean, agile, process redesign and other ways in which governments and others can increase efficiency and deliver results.

Changing the nature of business and government

The last few years have seen an exponential growth in the gathering, storing and analysis of data. No sector of the economy has been left untouched including government.

Open data is changing the relationship between citizens and their governments. Data is giving governments a better idea of who their citizens are and what they need. It is leading to better evaluation of government programs and targeting of resources while empowering and informing citizens.

Enabling innovation while transforming the processes, relationships, and culture of the public sector workplace

Hand in hand with increasing use of data and analytics, digitization is accelerating across the public sector. This is perhaps the most profound change experienced in a generation.

Well implemented digitization will streamline processes, enable new ways of working, revolutionize communication and collaboration, accelerate innovation, and disrupt the very dynamics of the public sector workplace.

Three themes—one goal. To enhance your ability to lead change

When faced with these challenges and opportunities it is necessary that you master the art of change. This conference will provide you with an opportunity to explore these issues and their connections, learn from the experience of other change leaders, evaluate different approaches to change and handle the complexities of change in your own workplace

Building on success.
