Leading Mentally Healthy Workplaces

Thursday, April 19, 2018 • The Fort Garry • Winnipeg, MB

Is your organization ready to address mental health in the workplace? Poor mental health and mental illness are driving increasing costs associated with employer-sponsored drug plans, intermittent absences and short-term and long-term disability. Mounting challenges for employers also include increased coverage for workers’ compensation for mental health related issues and increases in the number of mental health human rights claims. The Mental Health Commission of Canada’s ground breaking National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace has paved the road for employers looking to address mental health issues in their workplace.

Prevention and early intervention are key. We often think of mental health as an individual issue, but there is an important role organizations play in creating the conditions to effectively support employees and prevent employees from feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Managers and supervisors are well situated to identify issues and support employees, but many do not have the training or knowledge to do so with confidence. A mental health strategy that engages managers can have a positive impact not only on the lives of employees but also on organizational performance.

Join us for this full-day workshop where managers and supervisors will learn how to create and support a psychologically healthy and safe workplace. This session will provide managers with insights into how to provide more effective workplace mental health programs and services to employees. You’ll learn from expert insights, case studies, and original Conference Board research.
