The monthly Index of Consumer Confidence is constructed from responses to four attitudinal questions posed to a random sample of Canadian households.

Document Highlights

After dropping in January, the Index of Consumer Confidence declined again in February. Most striking is the breadth of the decline—every region’s index declined in February, after all but Atlantic Canada’s fell in January. Canadians became especially more skeptical about making major purchases—likely a result of rising interest rates.
