To assist in preparing compensation plans for 2018, this preview provides key findings in advance of the full report that will be available in October. The data, supplied by 315 organizations across Canada, are based on responses to this year’s Compensation Planning Outlook survey. The preview reveals that the overall average base pay increase for non-unionized employees is projected to be 2.4 per cent in 2018 (including zeros), with only 3 per cent of organizations planning a pay freeze across all employee groups. Among other noteworthy findings, the preview reveals that projected increases are highest in the pharmaceutical and chemical products industry at 2.7 per cent. The lowest average increases are expected in the health sector, with an average increase of 1.6 per cent. Regionally, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec have the highest average projected increases and the lowest average increases are expected in Alberta and Saskatchewan at 2.2 per cent.
