Saskatchewan’s labour shortage will hinder the province’s growth if left unaddressed. The province will need to replace workers who retire and also fill new jobs created by continued economic expansion. Future business investments can be encouraged by the quality and efficiency of Saskatchewan’s labour market. Businesses in the province are striving to attract, develop, and retain a skilled workforce through corporate responsibility and sustainability (CRS) activities that foster good employee relations, create opportunities for skills, and by enhancing experiential learning.
Business Matters: CRS and the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth examines CRS initiatives of companies operating in, or based out of, Saskatchewan to illustrate how these initiatives support the achievement of the government’s Saskatchewan Plan for Growth. It identifies strategies to expand and improve CRS practices in the province, highlights CSR’s economic role, examines gaps on how CRS is understood and practised, and suggests steps for improvement.
